About Me.

I live in Melville, NY with my husband and three fur babies – Isolde, Remington, and Emma. I graduated in 2003 from Emerson College with a BFA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing. After working in a corporate office setting for ten years and feeling unfulfilled, I decided to become a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor. In 2014, I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training and completed my 300-hour yoga teacher training in 2020.

Up until recently, I was a Tier 3+ personal trainer at Equinox in Woodbury, NY, but now I maintain a private virtual and in-home training and yoga business as well as an online training platform called UTrain Online.

“Serena is truly an amazing yoga instructor. She has a way of breaking down each pose that allows me to achieve yoga poses I never thought I could get into. Serena is so detailed and accommodates all yoga levels in her class by providing modifications. I like how Serena explains the benefits of certain poses and she corrected by vinyasa flow to ensure I will not injure my wrists. She really pays attention to every single participant in her class and always walks around correcting people so they get the true benefit of the pose and the class! Serena is a funny, relaxed and attentive yoga instructor- she will always ask in the middle of class – how everyone is feeling and if we need a break or not. There are several poses I was either not doing correctly or the efficient way and Serena has such a good eye to not only notice my incorrect yoga pose; but fixes my form. I take everything I learn from her to my other yoga classes. Another thing I LOVE about Serena’a yoga classes is that she is always mixing it up! I love that I never know what to expect in class- focusing on backbends, balance, whatever it may be- it is always an amazing class and you will leave feeling accomplished, refreshed, challenged, strong and like you got a good workout in! I highly recommend taking Serena’s yoga classes- she is a talented and educated yoga instructor and if you don’t love yoga yet- you will after Serena Culoso!!!.”
